On Friday, November 17, 2023, the match of the third round of the TESKAHOR Prague Cup took place at Vyšehrad in Prague. The match between MSM Football Academy (International Youth Union) and Sports Club Střešovice 1911 ended in victory for MSM with a score of 2:1. The match which started at 1pm attracted many loyal spectators and fans of both the teams who witnessed a thrilling and exciting battle in the freezing weather.
First half: a quick start for the home side
MSM (International Youth Union) took the initiative from the beginning of the match. Our striker Oleksandr Koval opened the scoring after only 10 minutes by scoring the first beautiful goal. Two minutes later, Matviy Kovalov doubled the lead when he sent the ball into the net of SK Střešovice 1911. The first half ended with a score of 2:0 in favor of MSM.
Second half: intense fight and comeback
In the second half, the game heated up to the limit and a real battle began on the pitch. In the 46th minute, Navid Latipi was replaced by Jan Rychlik in the away team, who gave SK Střešovice 1911 a new impetus. In the 50th minute, MSM’s Nazar Zhuk was shown a yellow card for violent play, starting a series of disciplinary measures for both teams.
In the 81st minute, Sportovní klub Střešovice 1911 had an opportunity to change the course of the match: Yuri Matiev from MSM was sent off for a very controversial offence. In the 89th minute, Zdenek Križ, who scored a goal for the home team, reduced the numerical advantage to a minimal difference. However, the guests’ success ended there. The main referee of the match tried his best to help the opponent in the second half and added up to 10 minutes of overtime in favor of the guests! The match ended after 100 minutes!
The match was marred by several yellow cards. The players of both teams did not contain their emotions and often broke the rules. MSM’s Mikhailo Levitsky was also sent off in the 90th minute, making his team’s situation even more difficult. Nevertheless, the home team managed to keep the winning score at nine.
Substitutions played a crucial role in the tactical changes of both teams at the end of the match. The coaches tried to make the most of the reserves to change the course of the game and strengthen the position of their teams.
MSM Football Academy’s 2:1 victory in the third round of the TESKAHOR Prague Cup was an important step to the next stage of the tournament – the quarterfinals of the Prague Cup final. Our team showed a high level of preparation and fighting team spirit, which allowed us to hold on to victory even in the conditions of a numerical minority and a clear narrowing in the second half.
This round of the Prague Cup has provided fans with many great moments and unexpected results, which only strengthens the interest of spectators, sponsors, media and football scouts in the tournament and makes it even more exciting.
